So we have unofficially decided to try to celebrate every anniversary with an adventure. Last year, our honeymoon was such an amazing experience. This year, we traveled even farther. I had to be in Botswana for work at the beginning of August, so we decided to meet up in Johannesburg, South Africa for a week of exploration and adventure. We had a couple friends and family also join us on our African adventure, because the more, the merrier.

We had such an amazing honeymoon filled with adventures and we would like to thank everyone who made that possible! Our honeyfund covered ALL our excursions! We got to do everything we wanted and I got to check off my bucket list item of riding on a real dog sled. Hanging out with the sled dogs and Alaskan husky puppies was pretty amazing. Here are all the photos with captions of our incredible honeymoon adventure!
So, 3 weeks into the new job and I get an e-mail asking for volunteers on a project in Botswana, Africa. Without hesitation, I volunteered to go. I had a couple weeks to prep for the trip which included some safari clothing (of course), a Borrow Lenses rental of a Nikon 200-500mm lens and a backpack capable of carrying all my gear, a trip to REI for some portable water filtration and other supplies, and most importantly, a trip to the doctor for some rather painful vaccinations. I researched and planned everything as carefully as possible. The co-workers that went with me all expressed interest in going on a safari for the weekend, so we made reservations at the Tao Game Lodge on the Madikwe Game Reserve for one night.
