We only had a brief stop at Lake Powell, but it was definitely worth it. There was little shade at the campground and it was incredibly warm outside while we were there. Since I wasn’t sure how Bailey would do on the boat ride necessary to reach the Rainbow Bridge, I stayed back at the campground with her for a relaxing afternoon. Rainbow Bridge National Monument is one of the largest known natural bridges in the world, extending 290ft into the sky and 275ft across Bridge Canyon.

The tour we selected was directly through the Lake Powell Marina and left from near the Wahweap Campground. The Rainbow Bridge Boat Tour includes a boat ride through Lake Powell to get as close as possible to Rainbow Bridge and then it is an approximately 1.25 mile roundtrip guided hike to see the arch. Overall, Chris thought it was a neat experience and really enjoyed the tour.

Day 6 Campground:
Wahweap Campground – Rating: ★★★★★

Wahweap Campground is directly adjacent to Lake Powell and the Lake Powell Marina so it is a great location if you are looking to enjoy lake activities. Campground was well take care of and the restroom and shower facilities were functional and clean. Depending on the weather for your trip, do note that there is some, but not much shade at many of the camp sites.
