Although this is a new blog, I’m going to have to backdate the first “real” post to Chris & I’s first real adventure together. I believe it came about when I decided to go skydiving for my 25th birthday. For those of you who don’t already know, I’m terrified of heights. Naturally, I figured this was the best way possible to conquer that fear once and for all. My BFF Cat immediately was interested in tagging along on my crazy plan, and somehow, between the two of us, we managed to coax Chris into joining us. If I recall correctly, he did try to back out several times after initially agreeing. I’m not sure any of us really knew what we had signed up for at this point.

Pulled into the parking lot – excited and nervous!

We arrived in Perris, CA at Skydive Perris bright and early (mostly because none of us wanted to eat before). I have a feeling that we were all a very odd combination of excited, nervous, nauseous, and a little scared; I know I was. As we walked in we saw the plane take off and some sky divers land – this made me feel slightly better.

Signing our lives away and watching safety prep videos!

After going through the standard safety preparations, we were each paired with our instructors (we were all jumping tandem), and began to suit up. After waiting for the plane to arrive we all boarded. There were a number of solo jumpers also riding along with us. They would be the first to jump.

After what seemed like a lifetime the plane took off. It seemed that my butterflies were growing worse as the plane climbed in altitude. Once we reached 5,000 feet, the skydivers pulled the rollup door on the plane open. They explained that all this plane did was roundtrips up and down all day, and that if anything happened to the plane, we all had parachutes and could jump…NBD…

One by one, we watched the solo skydivers jump out of the plane. It seemed like the fell away from us with much more speed than when we had watched the same event from the ground. Finally, we were the only ones left in the plane. Chris was the first to go, followed by myself, and lastly Cat. While I kept my thoughts about watching Chris fall out of the plane to myself, Cat apparently had a minor panic attack. You can see all of the action in the YouTube videos below!

We jumped! Definitely still on the adrenaline high!
